Daily runs print special after announcing rock ‘n’ roll star’s patch concert

A regional daily published a print souvenir after announcing rock star Liam Gallagher will play live at its patch.

The Lancashire Telegraph has welcomed the former Oasis vocalist as he prepares to play live at Blackburn’s King George’s Hall.

As part of the Telegraph’s promotion of the event, readers were able to enter a ballot for tickets by purchasing a special edition of the newspaper yesterday.

The edition also featured a souvenir poster commemorating the forthcoming concert.

The announcement itself was made on the front page of the Telegraph the previous day, pictured above, with the headline ‘Wonderhall’ in reference to Oasis hit Wonderwall.

Telegraph editor Richard Duggan told HTFP: “It’s really exciting for people in Blackburn with Darwen and surrounding areas to have the legendary Britpop singer Liam Gallagher playing an exclusive gig at one of the town’s most iconic venues.

“We were delighted to be asked by the council to promote the event and be able to provide our loyal print readers who buy the paper the opportunity to enter the ballot by purchasing this special edition of the Lancashire Telegraph which includes a brilliantly designed one-off poster.

“The gig is great for the town’s economy and really puts Blackburn on the map as a destination for fantastic entertainment.”
