Dailies celebrate England women’s triumph as ‘football comes home’

Regional dailies have celebrated England’s triumph at football’s Women’s Euro 2022 on their front pages this morning.

The England team, nicknamed the Lionesses, overcame Germany 2-1 after extra time in the final at London’s Wembley Stadium yesterday evening.

Among the titles to splash on the achievement this morning was the Western Daily Press, which ran with the ‘Football comes home’.

The headline pays homage to football anthem ‘Three Lions’ by Baddiel, Skinner & The Lightning Seeds, which features the refrain “Football’s coming home”.

England’s goals were scored by Ella Toone and Chloe Kelly, who play for rival clubs Manchester United and Manchester City respectively.

This fact wasn’t lost on the Manchester Evening News, which celebrated its patch’s contribution to last night’s victory.
