Choose your favourite regional press front pages of 2022

Note:  This poll has now closed.

It’s that time of the year again and it’s time to ask HTFP readers what they rate as the best regional press front page of 2022.

We have selected 12 of the front pages that have been featured in HTFP stories over the past year and are asking you to make choose your favourite.

We are also running a separate poll featuring eight of the great front pages and wraparounds published in the wake of the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II on 8 September.

The poll is now open with the winner to be announced on the site in the New Year.  You can vote for up to three contenders in each of the two categories.

Our selection includes front pages featuring some of the year’s biggest stories including the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the downfall of Boris Johnson and the short-lived premiership of Liz Truss.

Regional daily coverage of three contrasting but horrific stories involving the deaths of children also make the list.

First there is the Liverpool Echo’s dramatic plea to those who may have been withholding information about the killing of nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel who died after a gunman burst into her family’s home.

Stoke daily The Sentinel highlighted the anger on its patch after a drink and drug driver who killed six-year-old Sharlotte Naglis was given a six-year jail term.

And the Manchester Evening News’ set the national news agenda with its coverage of the death of toddler Awaab Ishak due to damp housing.

But there is also a dose of humour with the Hull Daily Mail’s treatment of a drug dealer who used the postal service to distribute cannabis and the Dundee Telegraph’s coverage of a chainsaw-wielding drunk.

The full shortlists, drawn from 20 different regional press titles, can be found below.
