Weekly relaunches with focus on long reads and opinion

A weekly newspaper has relaunched with a new focus on long reads and opinion pieces.

The Hampstead & Highgate Express has unveiled the relaunch, which has also coincided with a redesign of the paper.

Among the changes is the Ham & High’s masthead being moved from the top of the page to run up the left hand side.

Editor André Langlois told readers in an accompanying editorial the title’s staff were “renewing our commitment to our communities”.

A new campaign aimed at highlighting the proection of trees and green spaces on the Ham & High’s patch has also been launched.

Wrote André: “The nature of the media has changed rapidly in recent years. Our website is read by thousands every day, and our stories spark debate across social media.

“Guests on the Ham & High podcast, launched last year, have included Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer, Dame Esther Rantzen, Gail’s Bakery boss Tom Molnar and Hampstead and Kilburn MP Tulip Siddiq.

“We have hosted live online discussions for a range of local issues and though there is hope that the world will open up in the coming months, we have all learned the value of different ways to communicate.

“A highlight of the last year was meeting so many people in the community at our online town hall events. We’ll be holding some more of those in the near future.”
