Voting opens in bid to find best regional press campaign

Voting is now open in an annual public contest to find the best local news campaign of the past year.

The Making a Difference award, which honours campaigning journalism in the regional press, is now open until Wednesday.

The award is run as part of the News Media Association’s annual week-long Journalism Matters campaign, which began today.

Both the Glasgow Times and the Hull Daily Mail received two nominations each, while six other titles are in the running for the prize.

The Birmingham Mail, Cambridge News, Essex Live, Reading Chronicle, Newcastle daily The Chronicle and Glasgow daily The Herald each received a single nomination.

The winner will be announced this Friday.
