A regional publisher has launched a “long overdue” new title after taking on an additional journalist to cover a town online.

Reach plc has announced the launch of Taunton Live, a dedicated channel that will appear on its Somerset Live website.

Reach revealed in February it was taking on 25 new journalists, including one in Taunton, across the country in a bid to expand its regional digital coverage.

The new reporter once aapointed will join up with current Somerset Live journalist Ross Millen, pictured, to focus on Taunton with support from the newsdesk and wider news team.

Reach South West audience and content director Jacqui Merrington said: “We are delighted to launch TauntonLive and it feels a brand that’s long overdue for Reach plc.

“Taunton has always been core to our news agenda at Somerset Live and it thoroughly deserves its own platform, newsletter and social media channels.

“We are so looking forward to having a dedicated Taunton team in place to deliver an even better news service and features that really capture the essence and people of the town.”
