Regional interest magazine celebrates 25 years in business

A regional interest magazine has celebrated its 25th anniversary with a special edition.

Lakeland Walker has marked a quarter of a century in business with the celebratory issue.

The edition highlighting the Lake District’s finest walks, while its team of writers and photographers have also been invited to reveal what they believe to be Lakeland’s greatest treks.

Since the first issue appeared in 1996, the bi-monthly title has catered specifically for those who love to explore England’s Lake District National Park on foot.

According to publisher Dalesman Publishing, it is believed to be the only consumer walking magazine to focus on a single geographical region of the British Isles.

Editor John Manning said: “Over 25 years we’ve detailed hundreds of super routes for our readers to follow.

“This time, we’ve given our writers free rein to express themselves with descriptive prose, to evoke the spirit of the fells and inspire readers, until they can return to the Lake District.

“The team has relished the opportunity, and I believe the readership will love it.

“The features will run through the summer issues, with more fine writers offering their own take on the area’s very best walks, as we continue to mark the anniversary.”
