Regional editor among first guests to appear on GB News

Nancy FielderA regional daily editor was among the first guests to appear on GB News on the channel’s first full day of broadcasting.

Nancy Fielder, who edits Sheffield daily The Star, was invited on to the station this morning following its launch broadcast on Sunday evening.

The station’s chairman Andrew Neil has previously stated a regional focus would be “vital” to the new project, with 120 journalism jobs being created across the United Kingdom.

A number of reporters with a regional media background have been recruited by the channel, including Hull Daily Mail journalist Anna Riley.

Nancy, pictured, posted on Twitter after her appearance: “Thanks for having me on your first day GB News. I always appreciate being given a national platform to talk about our wonderful Sheffield and Yorkshire.”

Among those to praise Nancy’s appearance was David Collins, Northern editor at The Sunday Times.

He wrote on the social media site: “For all the hysterical speculation, I switched on GB News breakfast out of interest to watch the editor of the Sheffield Star talking about what’s going on in Yorkshire and found it completely refreshing.”
