Publisher holds ‘virtual open day’ for potential sports journalists

A regional publisher is hosting a “virtual open day” today for people interested in becoming sports journalists.

Reach plc is staging the event via YouTube today with sport audience and content director Jon Birchall in the chair.

On the panel will be Daily Mirror assistant editor Darren Lewis, Manchester Evening News head of football Alice McKeegan, Mirror sports writer Darren Wells and Wales Online journalist Katie Sands.

Posting on Twitter, Jon wrote: “We are particularly keen to speak to people who may have sat on the fence about working in sports journalism or have worried that they wouldn’t fit in. Sport is for everyone and so is sport media.”
