A new online news brand which is “powered” by a regional daily has been launched.

Reach plc has announced the launch of news app Renfrewshire Live, which covers Paisley and the surrounding towns and villages.

The new title follows Reach’s trend for launching online brands with counties’ names.

It will be overseen by the team responsible for the Paisley Daily Express.

A launch piece states: “Renfrewshire Live, the new free app dedicated to bringing you around the clock breaking news, is now available to download.

“Powered by the Paisley Daily Express, Renfrewshire Live is your go-to source for news, features and sport with live coverage provided direct to the app, seven days a week.

“The dedicated team of experienced journalists, responsible for the publication of the award-winning PDE, will focus on breaking news, day and night, across Renfrewshire’s towns and villages.

“Rolling coverage of crime, court and community news will be provided alongside fascinating features on the region’s proud past and ambitious plans for its future.

“Your essential companion to daily life across the county, the app will also feature exciting content from neighbouring Barrhead, Neilston and Uplawmoor.”
