Anna RileyA new national news service has poached a regional press journalist to join its reporting team.

GB News has announced the appointment of Hull Daily Mail journalist Anna Riley to its regional reporting team, for which she will be covering Yorkshire and Humberside.

Anna, pictured, joins the new channel after three years at the Mail and its Hull Live sister website.

The station’s chairman Andrew Neil has previously stated a regional focus would be “vital” to the new project, with 120 journalism jobs being created across the United Kingdom.

Announcing her appointment on Twitter, GB News said Anna was a strong believer that Yorkshire voices “deserve more space in the national conversation”.

Anna herself said: “I’m thrilled to join the GB News team and can’t wait to get started.”

GB News has also added two further reporters to its regional team.

Bradley Harris has joined from the BBC to cover the North-West of England, while Northern Ireland reporter Conchur Dowds has been poached from UTV.

They join previously announced appointments Rachel Sweeney, who will cover the North-East of England, and Wales reporter Lily Hewitson.
