Local news site creates 23 jobs in second expansion in months

Liz HazeltonA local news website is creating 23 new journalism jobs in its second expansion in a year.

MyLondon has announced the recruitment drive and is seeking candidates “from all backgrounds and communities”.

The expansion comes after the Reach plc-owned site announced the creation of 19 journalism jobs in November last year.

Editorial director Liz Hazelton, pictured, announced the recruitment drive in a series of posts on Twitter.

The posts available include two content editors, a lifestyle editor, a features editor and a social media editor, as well as four senior reporters, three features writers and two real life writers.

Specialist writers on property, money, what’s on, food and drink, celebrities and history are also set to be recruited, along with a City Hall correspondent and a video journalist.

Liz wrote: “Very excited to say that MyLondon will soon be hiring.

“There’ll be a wide range of positions – including desk heads and editors – and we’re looking for people from all backgrounds and communities to fully represent this amazing city.”

Reach announced on Monday it is also creating 76 sports journalism roles across the country.
