Journalist who won MBE and worked with Parkinson dies aged 91

Alan BerryA journalist who won the MBE and worked alongside Sir Michael Parkinson at a regional daily has died aged 91.

Alan Berry worked as a reporter, sub-editor and feature writer on titles in Sheffield and Doncaster during his 65-year career.

He also worked with chat show host Sir Michael at the former Doncaster office of the Yorkshire Evening Post.

According to the Doncaster Free Press, Alan was awarded the MBE for his services to journalism in 1991 and was still writing up until as recently as ten years ago.

He regularly wrote a bygones column for the Doncaster Star, but officially retired in 2011.

Alan, who lived in Harwell, near Doncaster, died on 30 December at the age of 91.

His funeral service and cremation were held at Barnby Moor Crematorium, near Retford, last week.
