Hyperlocal news network launches search for editorial boss

Karl Hancock newA hyperlocal news network is launching a search for an editorial boss to help oversee its expansion across the United Kingdom.

Nub News has announced the creation of the new position of head of communities, which it says is the equivalent of an “editor in chief” title at other publishers.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting Nub News chief executive Karl Hancock with a further expansion into new towns across the UK and recruiting more journalists to join its existing team of 33 reporters.

The head of communities will also be responsible for day-to-day management of the editorial team with overall responsibility for content and style, among other duties.

The job is currently being advertised on HTFP and can be found here.

Karl, pictured above, said: “This crucial appointment represents the latest milestone in the growth of Nub News. We have deliberately opted for the title head of communities because that is what Nub News is all about – embedded in the communities we seek to serve.

“In the old days this role would carry the editor in chief title but Nub News is all about a different model, different journalism and a different approach to covering the local content.

“Above all we want to give our readers a voice and a second-to-none editorial service.

“Once appointed, the successful candidate will lead a rapid expansion of our new world mission and lead the most enthusiastic, talented team in local media to greater heights.

“These are exciting times for Nub and journalism. But above all for the overlooked communities we seek to serve.”
