New role created as hyperlocal network expands business coverage

Karl Hancock newA hyperlocal news network is expanding its business coverage in recognition of a “growing desire” for companies to support the communities in which they operate.

Nub News has launched the search for a business editor to cover its five digital titles across Cheshire – covering Crewe, Macclesfield, Congleton, Sandbach and Alsager.

The creation of the new role comes amid what Nub News describes as an “appetite for more local business news” among its readership, as well as from businesses themselves.

The job is currently being advertised on HTFP and can be found here.

Nub News chief executive Karl Hancock spent 25 years working as a banker in the City of London before launching the network.

Karl, pictured, told HTFP: “This is the next stage for Nub News. We recognise the growing desire of business to engage with and support the communities in which they operate.

“The mood around the board tables of corporate Britain is changing. More and more businesses are taking an increasingly active part in their own communities. There’s a ‘corporate purpose’ with more companies balancing profits with value to the public.

“Companies want to do business but they want to do good. That resonates with the Nub News principles.

“Businesses are engaging with communities and their local customers and we believe our audience have an appetite for more local business news.

“We now want to engage all sectors of our communities to come together as stakeholders and build that brighter future.”
