GB News unveils latest former regional press recruit

Patrick ChristysAn ex-weekly newspaper reporter has become the latest former regional press recruit at GB News.

Patrick Christys has been unveiled as the co-host of a new morning show on the news channel, which launched in June.

Patrick, pictured, worked for the Westmorland Gazette before moving on in 2016.

He joins GB News from talkRadio, where he hosted its drivetime programme.

GB News declared its commitment to regional coverage by creating a number of correspondent roles across the country when it launched.

Hull Daily Mail reporter Anna Riley was among those to join the channel at the time.

Other recent job moves in the regional press and related sectors include the following:

* Eastern Daily Press and Norwich Evening News reporter Daniel Moxon has landed a job on the nationals as sports trend writer for Reach plc working across the Daily Mirror, Daily Express and Daily Star.

* Craig Robertson has moved from the Daily Record newsdesk where he spent seven years as assistant news editor and then deputy news editor to take on the news editor role at sister paper the Sunday Mail with the title head of advance news.

* Immy Share, previously a live reporter for the Yorkshire Evening Post, has moved to South East London’s News Shopper as a digital reporter.

* James Silcocks has been promoted from senior reporter to chief reporter at the Louth Leader.

* Lewis Berrill has joined Essex daily The Echo as a senior reporter. He was previously chief reporter at Newsquest sister titles the East London and West Essex Guardian and Epping Forest Guardian.

* Joe Burn, previously local democracy reporter for StokeonTrentLive and The Sentinel, has joined fellow Reach plc title My London as local democracy content editor.

* The Liverpool Echo has appointed Dan Windham as weekend editor and Joe Rimmer as head of football. Joe was previously sport audience editor at the title while Dan was previously assistant editor at Sheffield daily The Star.

* Jamie Waller has moved from senior reporter to become local democracy reporter at Scunthorpe Live and Grimsby Live, covering northern Lincolnshire.

* Catherine Phillips has moved from PR to journalism, joining the Worcester News as a digital journalist from her previous role as communications officer for Primrose Hospice.
