Award-winning journalist reveals second rape threat against son

Patricia Devlin newA former Regional Press Awards winner has revealed a second threat of rape has been made against her infant son.

Patricia Devlin has once again hit out at inaction from the authorities after receiving the threat online.

HTFP reported in June last year how Patricia, who the News Reporter of the Year and the Scoop of the Year titles at the 2014 Regional Press Awards, had revealed a threat of rape had been made against her baby son.

The Belfast-based journalist, who now works for Sunday World, has since criticised two police forces over their handling of an investigation into the matter.

The latest threat, sent to Patricia in a direct message on Facebook Messenger, reads: “Your baby will suffer very soon from rape very nice.”

In response, Patricia posted on Twitter: “This is what happens when authorities fail to pursue and hold to account vile creatures using fake accounts to make threats.

“Impunity emboldens these sickos.

“When did it become OK to threaten children with rape?”

Patricia’s lawyers have now written to Facebook over the incident.
