Former JPIMedia editorial boss unveiled as new Archant content chief

Jeremy CliffordFormer JPIMedia editor-in-chief Jeremy Clifford has been unveiled as Archant’s new chief content officer.

It has been revealed Jeremy, pictured, will join the regional publisher next month after Matt Kelly’s departure, details of which can be found here, was announced this morning.

Jeremy’s departure from JPIMedia was announced last month – along with five other senior executives – following National World’s takeover of the business.

He will begin his new role on 8 March.

Matt has left Archant after leading a management buyout of its pro-European Union weekly The New European.

Posting on Twitter this morning, Jeremy said: “Very pleased to be taking on this new role and working with the team.

“Best wishes to Matt Kelly on his new venture.”

Jeremy had held his previous role with JPIMedia, and its forerunner Johnston Press, since 2015 and was editor of the Yorkshire Post and Yorkshire Evening Post for two years prior to that.

He edited the Northamptonshire Evening Telegraph from 2005 to 2011 and Sheffield daily The Star between 2011 and 2013, while his career has also seen him hold senior editorial roles at titles including the Derby Telegraph, South Wales Echo and Leicester Mercury.

Jeremy has chaired the BBC/News Media Association Advisory Panel, which oversees the Local Democracy Reporting Service, since 2017.

Archant has confirmed his appointment but declined to comment further when approached by HTFP.
