Features writer steps up to head daily’s political coverage

Chris BurnA features writer is set to step up to a regional daily’s political beat after his predecessor left to take up a new editor role.

Chris Burn has been unveiled as the new political editor of the Yorkshire Post following the departure of Rob Parsons, who left the newspaper to head up Reach plc’s new online title The Northern Agenda.

Chris, pictured, is currently assistant features editor at the Post.

The Leeds-based daily’s editor James Mitchinson revealed his appointment in a Twitter post yesterday (10) morning.

James wrote: “I am delighted to announce Chris Burn has been appointed political editor, the Yorkshire Post.

“Those who are familiar with Chris’s work will appreciate how thrilled I am that he will be leading our political journalism.

“Yorkshire – and the North – is lucky to have him.”

Chris added: “Excited – and slightly nervous – to be stepping into the shoes of Rob Parsons as the new political editor of the Yorkshire Post from 20 August.

“Going to massively miss working with the brilliant team in the features department but really looking forward to the new challenge.”
