Ex-reporter hospitalised by Covid urges unvaccinated to come forward

James DavisA former reporter has urged others to get vaccinated after being hospitalised due to coronavirus.

James Davis, who used to work for Isle of Man Newspapers, was told by nurses he “would have been in intensive care” if he had not received two jabs against Covid-19.

James spent six days in hospital over the summer, where scans showed Covid and traces of pneumonia on his lungs.

He has now urged those who are unvaccinated to come forward and receive their jabs after sharing his story.

James, who works in public relations for Isle of Man Advertising, said: “I remember being shown the x-ray of my lungs in hospital and it was a real eye-opener.

“The nurse made it very clear that I would have been in intensive care had it not been for the fact I had received both jabs.

“That and the fact I needed to be on oxygen for six days and nights told its own story.”

He added: “Based on my experience, I can honestly say the risk of not having the Covid vaccine far outweighs any doubts about having it and it was clear I’d have been in a more serious position without having had the two doses.”
