Ex-daily editor takes up reins at new business title

A former regional daily editor has taken up the editorship of a new business publication.

Alastair Milburn, who ran the South Wales Echo between 2002 and 2004, has joined Informed, a new online title for businesses in Wales.

Informed is run by Chambers Wales, formerly the South Wales & Mid Wales Chamber of Commerce, and Alastair will serve as an “independent editor” on the publication in addition to his duties with Effective Communications, the company he runs.

The first e-edition of the quarterly magazine, pictured below, has 36 pages and a circulation of more than 21,300 people, according to Chambers Wales.

Chambers Wales president Paul Slevin said: “2020 was one of the most challenging years for businesses having to navigate the uncertainly of Brexit and the hardships many faced as we found ourselves in the midst of a global pandemic.

“The challenges still facing Welsh businesses are momentous, which is why Chambers Wales adapted significantly to meet these needs, and prompted the launch of this heavyweight business publication.

“This industry focused publication allows readers to understand the wider issues in business, written from an informative perspective, rather than a news or drama viewpoint.

“Throughout every edition we look to provide the very best in forward-thinking guidance and solutions, as well as signposting to best practice and opportunities.

“We’ve been gearing up to the launch of Informed for quite some time now and are looking forward to the reception of our very first edition and the impact it will have on helping Welsh businesses rebuild and grow.”
