An editor has thanked readers after his city news website won an award celebrating digital media.

Reach plc site Belfast Live has been named ‘Best Local/Regional News Site’ at The Drum Online Media Awards.

The site’s victory completed a successful ceremony for Reach Northern Ireland after it was also highly commended in the Commercial Campaign of the Year category.

Belfast Live editor Ryan Smith, pictured, hailed his team’s victory.

He said: “This is a  for us and it’s brilliant to be recognised among major titles across the UK.

“More people than ever are choosing Belfast Live for their news, with the latest Comscore figures showing that it remains Northern Ireland’s most-read commercial news website.

“We’re nothing without our readers, so a big thanks to them for continually choosing us.”
