Chief reporter steps up to newsdesk at title where she trained

Katie Timms 1A chief reporter has been promoted to a newsdesk role at the regional title where she trained.

Katie Timms has announced her appointment as content editor at Reach plc website Plymouth Live.

Katie, pictured, began her career on Plymouth Live in 2017.

Her appointment was announced in a post on Twitter.

Katie wrote: “After almost four years of reporting for Plymouth Live, I will be moving onto the newsdesk to be a content editor, eeeek!

“Super happy to be given the opportunity and can’t wait to get started.”

Other recent job moves in the regional press and related sectors include the following:

* Will Metcalfe is leaving his role as head of news at Newcastle’s Chronicle Live after landing a job as assistant news editor of The Scottish Sun in Glasgow.  Will begins his new role on 16 August.

* Jason Lewis, previously court and crime correspondent at the Bournemouth Daily Echo, has been promoted to the role of chief reporter at the title.

* Bronwen Wetherby has started a new role as a reporter at PA Media after moving from her previous role as crime news reporter at the Camden New Journal.

* Paul Suart has rejoined Reach plc as a senior reporter working across Coventry Live and Warwickshire Live. Paul was previously a senior sports writer for the Birmingham Mail before a spell as a freelance.

* Steven Ross has joined the Sheffield Telegraph as a trainee reporter.

* Jacob Farr, who worked for the Edinburgh Evening News as a community reporter, has now joined rival website Edinburgh Live as a reporter.

* Richard Bellis, previously a community reporter at The Northern Echo, has now been appointed to the role of senior Teesside reporter with the paper.
