Award-winning digital journalist joins daily as news editor

Rhoda MorrisonAn award-winning digital news chief has left an independent publisher to head up a regional daily’s newsdesk.

Rhoda Morrison has announced her departure from Iliffe Media to become news editor at the Edinburgh Evening News.

Rhoda, pictured, had most recently served as digital news editor at Iliffe’s county-wide title Suffolk News, launched last August.

The native of Scotland previously worked for its sister newspaper the Bury Free Press and won Trainee of the Year at the NCTJ Awards for Excellence in 2019.

Announcing her new job on Twitter, Rhoda wrote on Tuesday: “After four lovely years, today is my last day working in Suffolk before I head back up to Scotland to start as news editor at [the Evening News] on Monday.

“Very excited to start but also sad to leave my brilliant wee Suffolk News team.

“Thank you to everyone who made me feel so at home down here over the years and who made my job at the Free Press and Suffolk News such an enjoyable one.”
