Regional news site unveils first ever ‘locally born editor’

Jenni PhillipsA regional news website has unveiled its first ever “locally born editor”.

Jenni Phillips, pictured, has announced her appointment as content and audience editor for Reach plc site Gloucestershire Live.

Gloucestershire Live was launched in 2016 to be the online arm of Gloucester newspaper The Citizen, the Gloucestershire Echo and Stroud Life.

Jenni’s appointment comes after Reach revealed a restructure last month which saw Rachael Sugden, its senior editor for Gloucestershire, leave the business.

Emma Slee, the company’s senior editor for Somerset, has been appointed regional editor for Bristol, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Dorset, taking in Mike Norton’s former role at the Bristol Post as well as Rachael’s old portfolio.

Jenni joined the company in 2015 and has served in a series of roles including digital publisher.

Posting on Twitter, she wrote: “A new week, a new month and a new era for Gloucestershire Live. I’m now content and audience editor so officially steering the ship.

“The first locally born editor the site has had (but it’s only been around a few years) – and it is as exciting as my first byline back in 2004.”
