Publisher’s former chairman takes up new press watchdog role

Gerladine AllinsonAn independent publisher’s former chairman has taken up a new role with the press watchdog.

The Independent Press Standards Organisation has announced Geraldine Allinson has joined its appointments panel.

The panel is responsible for appointing IPSO’s chairman and board, as well as the independent members of the Editors’ Code of Practice committee.

Geraldine, pictured, served as executive chairman of the KM Group for 13 years before stepping down from the role in October 2019.

She has since held a directorship with Iliffe Media, the KM Group’s owner.

Geraldine is also a director of the News Media Association representing local news media at national level and is also a non-executive director of PA Media.

She replaces Adrian Jeakings, former president of the Newspaper Society and Chairman of the NMA, on the appointments panel.
