Regional publisher have launched group-wide bids to help retailers reopening after the coronavirus lockdown.
JPIMedia’s Time to Support Local campaign has been launched to coincide with the reopening of shops across the country this morning, while Reach plc’s digital network of Live sites and hyperlocal news platform InYourArea have launched their own #IAmOpen campaign.
The JPIMedia campaign aims to encourage readers to spend both locally and safely following the easing of restrictions.
Its launch has provided a splash for a number of JPIMedia titles over the past week and has also won the backing the British Independent Retailers Association.
“As our shops reopen they need us more than ever and that is what Time to Support Local is about – being there for each other.”
Reach’s #IAmOpen campaign will give small to medium-sized businesses free support “worth thousands of pounds”.
Participating firms will get a free web page, advertising video and access to a number of other business-related services provided by Reach.
In Your Area editor in chief Ed Walker said: “The deserted high streets, empty shops and ghost towns country-wide are a stark reminder of the economic damage that has been done by coronavirus.

“The #IAmOpen campaign offers businesses the chance to shout about their reemergence after lockdown, and receive tools and support to help them in their recovery – for free; whilst also encouraging members of the community to shout about the businesses they love the most, or those that need help.
