New date sate for campaign showing regional journalism’s importance

JM-logoA new date has been set for a week-long campaign highlighting the importance of regional journalism.

The News Media Association has announced it will run its Journalism Matters campaign from 5 to 11 October 2020.

The annual Making a Difference online public vote will be held for the best national and local newspaper campaigns of the past year during the week.

It will also include the annual #trustednewsday drive on 8 October, which will highlight the challenges of reporting on coronavirus issues.

The campaign, previously known as Local Newspaper Week, was postponed earlier this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The NMA says this year’s campaign will highlight the vital importance of trusted and accurate journalism produced by the news media industry during the pandemic and the ongoing threat to news media posed by the tech giants.

It will also showcase the industry’s powerful campaigning and various initiatives during the crisis.
