National news chief to address editors at annual lecture

Geordie GreigThe editor of the Daily Mail has been unveiled as the speaker at the third annual Society of Editors Satchwell Lecture.

Geordie Greig will deliver this year’s lecture, which is named in honour of former Society of Editors executive director Bob Satchwell.

Bob stepped down from his role in March 2017 due to a life-changing illness.

Geordie, pictured, has edited Mail Newspapers since 2018 and was Mail on Sunday editor for six years prior to that.

Ian Murray, executive director of the Society of Editors said: “The Society of Editors Satchwell Lecture has quickly grown a reputation for being a must-attend event in the media calendar and this year will prove no exception.

“We are greatly honoured to have Geordie Greig as our speaker, one of the most influential forces in the UK media today.”

The Satchwell Lecture takes place at Stationers’ Hall, in London, on Monday 11 May 2020 and is free to attend.

The event will start at 7pm with a reception, followed at 7.30pm by the lecture and a question and answers session with time for networking to follow.
