Las Vegas-based former regional journalist joins coronavirus vaccine trial

Anette NeilsonA former regional journalist now living in Las Vegas has shared her experience of taking part in coronavirus vaccine trials.

Anette Nielsen, who used to work for Archant in Suffolk, has been involved in trials for the Moderna vaccine.

Anette, pictured, was given two injections 28 days apart along with her husband Keith.

The UK government has ordered seven million doses of the Moderna vaccine which is due to be rolled out next year.

Speaking to the East Anglian Daily Times, Anette said: “We thought we can’t sit around and not do anything. We had to take this opportunity to at least try.”

Anette went on to urge others in the UK and USA to take a vaccine if they are offered one.

She added: “I have got friends and family who are really quite fearful of the vaccines,” said Mrs Nielsen.

“They are hearing lots of misinformation. They think it is going to change their DNA.

“To me the risk of getting Covid-19 is far greater than the risk of the vaccine,” said Mrs Nielsen.

“I’d rather take my chances with the vaccine.”
