Investigative journalism award with £5k prize opens for entries

An annual award for campaigning and investigative journalism is open for entries.

The Private Eye Paul Foot Award is welcoming submissions for 2020, which comes with a £5,000 cash prize.

Last year Carlisle News & Star chief reporter Phil Coleman was shortlisted for the honour thanks to his investigation which led to a psychiatric fraud being exposed.

Previous winners from the regional press include Deborah Wain, of the Doncaster Free Press, in 2007, and Emma Youle, of Archant’s investigations unit, in 2017.
