Former editor gives leap year day bonus to PR firm staff

New HigginsAn editor-turned-PR chief is to pay his staff a leap year day bonus tomorrow as they embark on a mission to help good causes.

James Higgins, former editor at South Cumbria daily The Mail, will give the extra pay to his staff at PR firm 32West to mark 29 February.

Seven members of staff at 32West will also each donate a day to a good cause or not-for-profit organisation.

James, pictured, launched the firm in May 2018.

He said: “So much can be achieved in a working day and we want to put that time to good use, hence our decision to donate it to charity.

“We will work as a team to help with a project, one-off piece of work, or simply day-to-day running of a good cause which would benefit from a boost.

“We are now inviting organisations which have charitable status or are set up as not-for-profit entities to get in touch and let us know how we can help.

“We will hold an internal vote to decide which proposal best fits the skills of the 32West team – and that could be our skills in a business sense, or our out-of office capabilities which include everything from cleaning to decorating and DIY.”

Nice touch by Mr Higgins and great staff engagement in helping the wider community too.
The larger groups would do well to take a leaf out of 32Wests book, it might help motivation and given the workforce a much needed boost too
