Ex-daily editor becomes director of TV channel

Mike Sassi (2)An editor who left a regional daily last year has joined the board of a local television channel on his old patch.

Notts TV has announced the appointment of former Nottingham Post editor Mike Sassi to its board of directors.

Mike, pictured, left the Post in December after six years in charge, having previously also edited the Lincolnshire Echo and Stoke-on-Trent daily The Sentinel.

The 2014 launch of Notts TV, which is now a subsidiary of Nottingham Trent University, was supported by the Post when he was at the helm.

Mike said: “It’s a great privilege to join the board of Notts TV.

“The station is one of only five independent local TV channels in the UK – and is now producing more local television news for Nottinghamshire than any other TV outlet.

“So I’m excited about what lies ahead.

“In the coming months and years, there is a great opportunity for Notts TV to fly the flag for Nottingham and showcase everything that is good about our city and county.”
