Editors to discuss support for female regional journalists during pandemic

Nancy FielderRegional editors are set to speak at a virtual conference examining support for women working in the industry during the coronavirus crisis.

Campaign group Women in Journalism will host the ‘webinar’ this Tuesday.

The conference will look at the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic affecting regional journalism and how best the group can support women working within it.

Speakers include Nancy Fielder, pictured, editor of Sheffield daily The Star, and Laura Collins, editor of the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The panel also features Reach digital innovation editor Alison Gow, Independent Community News Network director Emma Meese and The Bureau Local director Megan Lucero.

The event will be chaired by Alison Phillips, editor of the Daily Mirror and WIJ deputy chair.
