Editor reveals departure as sister title absorbs regional publication

Lindsey Moore 2An editor has announced her departure from a regional publication after it was absorbed by its sister title.

Lindsey Moore has left her role as editor of Yorkshire nostalgia magazine Down Your Way, which has been incorporated into The Dalesman magazine.

Lindsey, pictured, had run the magazine since 2016. She was previously deputy editor of the Craven Herald, where she worked for 35 years.

Posting on Twitter, Lindsey wrote: “It has been an absolute privilege editing Down Your Way and I leave the company with many fond memories. Thank you everyone for your wonderful support.”

The October edition of Down Your Way is the last to go on sale and it will be incorporated into The Dalesman from November.

Former Dalesman, Craven Herald and Teesdale Mercury editor Adrian Braddy said he was “devastated” by the move.

He posted on Twitter: “Few magazines had such a connection with their readers and that bond only grew stronger during lockdown, as for many isolated readers it became a vital link with the outside world, bringing back memories of happier times.

“I am also devastated that its closure has led to the redundancy of its incredibly talented editor Lindsey Moore.

“I brought in Lindsey to run Down Your Way having previously worked with her at the Craven Herald and she is an unsung heroine of Yorkshire journalism.

“Quietly unassuming, but hugely talented, Lindsey built up a wonderful rapport with the Down Your Way readers.  It’s tragic that the industry has declined to such an extent that it can no longer sustain publications and journalists of this calibre.”

HTFP has approached Country Publications Ltd, owner of the titles, for a comment.
