Editor and LDR up for national prize honouring regional digital journalism

Katie FrenchAn editor and a local democracy reporter are among the regional journalists nominated for a national honour.

The UK Association of Online Publishers has announced the shortlist for its Digital Publishing Awards for 2020.

The scheme features a Local Hero Award for regional digital journalism, which is sponsored by Google News Initiative.

Among those on the six-strong shortlist for the prize is Katie French, pictured, editor of the Basingstoke Gazette.

Katie is joined by Lucy Ashton, local democracy reporter for Sheffield daily The Star and the BBC, as well as Bradford Telegraph & Argus community reporter Natasah Meek.

The Hereford Times is also nominated, along with Caroline Wilson, of Glasgow’s Herald & Times Group, and the Yorkshire Post’s Robyn Vinter.

Separately, JPIMedia has been shortlisted in the Product Development Team of the Year category.

The winners will be announced in a video ceremony on Thursday 15 October.
