Daily’s owners buy agency to “enable digital transformation” of paper

The new owners of a daily newspaper have purchased a creative agency with the aim of enabling the “digital transformation” of the title.,

The Channel Islands Media Group (CIMG), which purchased the Guernsey Press last year, has agreed to acquire a creative digital agency based on the island, TPA Guernsey Ltd.

The move is described as a “strategic purchase” as TPA will lead on “this essential project” of improving the paper’s online offering.

Chief executive of TPA, Tony Tostevin, described it as “a unique opportunity” to “work on one of Guernsey’s oldest and most recognisable brands in the Guernsey Press.”

CIMG is a joint venture between Bailiwick Investments Ltd and MXC Guernsey Ltd, which aims to provide for all the Channel Islands’ marketing, content and digital needs, “while continuing to produce the quality news and editorial content that is an essential ingredient to island life” according to The Guernsey Press.

Speaking to the Guernsey Press, a spokesperson for CIMG said: “More and more people want to consume news and local information conveniently online, where increasingly we all spend a large portion of our time.

“CIMG has recognised that the group will benefit from the creative and technical expertise that TPA can offer to deliver this transformation in the way that islanders get their local information.”

He added that a printed newspaper will continue to be published “for the foreseeable future”.
