Dailies warn readers ‘don’t be a tosser’ as campaign relaunched

Two sister dailies have warned readers not to be “tossers” after the relaunch of an anti-litter campaign.

The East Anglian Daily Times and Ipswich Star have given their backing to the revived ‘Don’t Be A Tosser’ campaign, run with BBC Radio Suffolk and Suffolk County Council.

A poster promoting the campaign has been published int eh Archant sister dailies, while car stickers have also been produced in support of the drive.

The campaign was first launched in 2008, but has most recently been revived due to a spike in littering following the relaxation of coronavirus lockdown measures.

Brad Jones, editor of the EADT and Ipswich Star, said: “Suffolk is the most beautiful and picturesque county – so when people carelessly leave litter, it spoils the environment and landscape which we all want to enjoy.

“Don’t be a Tosser has a great track record of reducing littering and anti-social behaviour, but the amounts of rubbish we’ve seen following the coronavirus lockdown shows we still have more work to do.

“While litter is a blight on our landscape, this campaign shows Suffolk at its finest.

“Together, I’m confident we can make a huge difference.”
