An award-winning regional sports journalist has joined a local football news website as a ‘roving reporter’.

Football in Berkshire has announced Dave Wright is joining its ranks to file match reports.

Dave, pictured, spent more than 40 years with the Reading Post, prior to its closure in 2014.

He has also worked for the Wokingham and Bracknell Times, News of the World, Bracknell and Wokingham News and the Reading Chronicle.

Dave’s appointment was announced by Football in Berkshire co-founder Tom Canning.

Tom wrote: “As well as football, Dave continues to cover cricket and hockey in Berkshire and is a National award-winning hockey journalist.

“I first met Dave nearly 14 years ago when I started out my career in the media at the Reading Evening Post where he was sports editor, and I am absolutely delighted he’s agreed to start contributing to Football in Berkshire.

“Wright joins a growing group of contributors here at Football in Berkshire as we aim to cover as wide a variety of the game in the Royal County as we possibly can.”
