Weekly launches front page call for funds and volunteers to help hospice

A weekly newspaper has launched a front page call for funds and volunteers to help a hospice on its patch keep going.

The Halifax Courier is running a campaign in aid of the Overgate Hospice, which has been running for nearly 40 years.

The Courier’s Helping Hand campaign is urging readers to donate their time and money to the hospice, and also aims to raise awareness of its work.

The paper splashed on the campaign’s launch last week.

Courier deputy editor Chris Lever told HTFP: “It’s really important to us that we support local organisations that make such a difference to our community, and what better organisation than our hospice.

“Overgate gives tremendous care to people when they need it most and touches the lives of so many people across Calderdale.

“We want to help them raise awareness of their great work, encourage more volunteers, and fund raise for the £10,000 a day to run.

“The Halifax Courier is proud to support them.”
