Three former daily journalists score PR awards victories

Steve McComishThree former journalists who worked for the same regional daily have won awards for their work in public relations.

Richard Baker, Steve McComish and Liz Cartwright, who all worked on the Nottingham Post, were victorious at the Chartered Institute of Public Relations Awards during CIPR’s Midlands Pride event.

BakerBaird, co-founded by Richard, won Gold in the Integrated Campaign of the Year category for its work on the BabySaver, a device developed by the University of Liverpool’s Sanyu unit and colleagues in Uganda to reduce infant mortality in low resource countries.

The company also scooped a CIPR Media Relations award for its client the UK2070 Commission.

Elsewhere, Steve’s agency London PR won Gold and Silver awards in the Transport and Automotive and Outstanding Small PR Consultancy categories respectively.

The Gold award recognised the agency’s work with Stoke-on-Trent based Central Contracts.

Liz’s company Cartwright Communications received a Silver award in the Healthcare Campaign category for its work with Body Lipo Lincoln, an aesthetics and wellness clinic in Lincolnshire.

Steve, pictured, said: “It was wonderful to win both Gold and Silver Awards at the CIPR Midlands Pride event this year. These wins are a wonderful recognition of all the hard work the team has put in over the past 12 months.

“We’ve got some big plans for 2020 and this is only the start.”
