A regional daily has helped its “biggest fan”, who has bought a copy of the newspaper every day since she was a young girl, celebrate her 100th birthday.
EADT reporter Victoria Pertusa attended the celebrations at the sheltered accommodation where Mrs Culling, pictured, now lives.
She told the Ipswich-based paper she remembered when it cost three halfpennies to buy.
Discussing her birthday party, Mrs Culling told Victoria: “I wasn’t expecting all this – I really don’t know what to say, honestly.
“It’s so nice that they’ve all come – I didn’t think I was so popular to be honest.”
Explaining her secret to a long life, she added: “Keeping happy dear. I’ve looked after lots of people, and being happy is the best.”
