refugeeJournalists are being urged to enter an awards scheme celebrating the best reporting of refugees.

The annual Refugee Festival Scotland Media Awards are now accepting entries, with entrants able to submit their own work or nominate the work of colleagues by entering a piece for consideration.

Aimed at promoting good journalism, the awards celebrate coverage that is fair and responsible, and that contributes to improved understanding of the issues surrounding forced migration in Scotland.

The awards are co-ordinated by the Scottish Refugee Council, in partnership with the National Union of Journalists and the British Red Cross.

Seven prizes are u for grabs, including a specialist category for Local Media.

Eligible journalists can enter one piece of work per category, and the deadline for entries is 5pm on Wednesday 15 May.
