Newspaper’s former editor writes book to mark its first 150 years

martin-trepteThe former editor of a weekly newspaper is writing a book to celebrate the title’s 150th anniversary.

Martin Trepte, left, will author the book chronicling the life of the Maidenhead Advertiser, which is gearing up to celebrate the milestone next week.

The Advertiser’s 25 July edition will include a look at major events in the paper’s history, iconic front pages, its campaigns and charitable efforts and messages from prominent people associated with Maidenhead.

Martin’s successor James Preston has called for readers to share their memories ahead of the anniversary edition coming out.

In a message, he said: “We are extremely excited to be celebrating the paper’s 150th anniversary this month.

“Our commemorative supplement will include thoughts from well-known local figures and past editors and journalists.

“But we are nothing without our readers and we are proud of the fact our articles can shine a light on someone’s achievements or bring to the fore something that changes somebody’s life.

“We want to hear what our paper means to you. If you have any interesting memories of the paper, we’d love to hear from you.”
