A regional daily has produced a souvenir edition to mark an unprecendented sporting success on its patch
The Manchester Evening News has honoured Manchester City Football Club with its ‘Treble Winners’ edition.
The publication has been produced to commemorate City’s unprecedented domestic treble, which saw them win the Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup in the same season.
Priced at £2.50, it features 64 pages about the historic 2019-20 season under manager Pep Guardiola.
A piece advertising the souvenir on the MEN’s website states:”To celebrate Manchester City’s fourth Premier League title, we have produced a souvenir edition charting the success of the 2018-19 historic domestic treble winning season.
“This 64-page souvenir of the 2018-19 season will be packed with pictures, news and reviews of key games in this incredible season.
“Pep amassed 100 Premier League points on their way to the title, smashing the previous record and beating a host of others on their way to the finest domestic campaign seen in English football.”

I hope someone at the MEN is going to change that statement in the final sentence – Manchester City totalled 100 points in 2017/18, but “only” 98 in the season just ended.
