Daily invites readers into newsroom to talk mental health

A regional daily invited readers and mental health experts into its newsroom for a summit discussing the issue.

The Eastern Daily Press hosted the discussion at its Prospect House headquarters, in Norwich, last week.

Mental health experts, teachers, parents and readers of both the EDP and its sister title the Norwich Evening News attended the summit.

As a result, EDP and Evening News editor David Powles has called for mental health issues to be taught as part of the national curriculum.

He said: “said: “We need to teach all generations to talk about their mental health.

“Parents need to be aware. It is better that people are educated.”

David added: “There are parts of the curriculum that are not as important as teaching young people how to deal with different things in your life.”

For a number of years the EDP has run its Mental Health Watch campaign, which aims to get better mental health provision for its patch.

The summit was held in association with “slow journalism” venture Tortoise.”

I think a big cause of mental health problems are uncertainty about your job and being under pressure in work due to cuts to resources.

    Oh wait.
