College ranked among best in country launches new journalism course

A college which was ranked the third best in the country in a recent league table has launched a new journalism course.

West Suffolk College has begun teaching the broadcast and journalism extended diploma level three course.

An initial cohort of 12 students have begun studying the course at its Bury St Edmunds campus.

Last year West Suffolk secured third place in FE Week’s exclusive league table for colleges 2018.

Course director Mark Jones told the Sudbury Mercury: “We are thrilled to be the only college in the region to be launching this brilliant course.

“We are excited to be able to provide our students with some fantastic industry experience and collaboration to give them a platform for a great career in the broadcast and media sector.”

Future plans for the course include building purpose built TV and radio production studios where the students can create their own productions and projects for the upcoming WSC TV channel.
