Business chief guest edits weekly to mark week-long celebration

A commerce chief guest edited a bi-weekly newspaper as it marked an event celebrating the best of its region’s businesses.

The Inverness Courier invited Inverness Chamber of Commerce chief executive Stewart Nicol into its office as part of Highland Business Week.

Stewart toured the Courier’s New Century House office and attended morning conference ahead of Tuesday’s edition, pictured below, going to print.

David Bourn, editorial director for Courier owner Scottish Provincial Press, told HTFP the paper may consider using a guest editor again in future.

He said: “As longstanding media sponsors for Highland Business Week, we are always looking at ways to freshen up our coverage and decided to invite Stewart in to guest edit the paper to kick the week off in style.

“He attended morning conference, had some very useful input and spent some time in all of the departments here getting a great insight into how we work.

“I know he found it a really eye-opening and useful experience and it’s something we might consider doing again with someone else in the future if the opportunity arises.”
