Weekly’s old home put up for sale after move to new office

A weekly newspaper’s former office is up for sale after the title moved to a new base last year.

The Loughborough Echo announced in August last year that it was moving to new headquarters at the Ark Business Centre, on Gordon Road, in the Leicestershire town.

The Ark sits to the north-east of Loughborough town centre, less than half a mile from the town’s railway station, and is less than a mile from the Echo’s former home on Royal Way, which is also on the outskirts of the town.

Now chartered surveyor Mather Jamie has announced the Royal Way building, which has two floors, is available to purchase.

Alex Reid, director of Mather Jamie, said, “These modern offices would be ideally suited for a business looking to expand into larger premises, and are located within easy reach of Loughborough’s main facilities and benefit from a higher level of car parking than many modern offices.”

The property comprises 1,907 square feet and features open-plan office space and kitchens on both floors, plus a dozen car parking spaces onsite.

Prior to moving to an exclusive base at Royal Way several years ago, the Echo had an office at Swan Street in the town centre.

Last year a planning application was submitted to Charnwood Borough Council by Hour Escape Ltd to turn the Swan Street office into a ‘room escape game’ used in team-building exercises.
