Don’t Diss it! Weekly calls on readers to ‘shine a light’ on patch

A weekly newspaper has launched a new campaign aimed at getting readers to enjoy its patch more.

The Diss Mercury is calling on readers to ‘Enjoy Diss More’, and aims to “shine a light on everything that is great” about the market town.

The Mercury and its Archant sister title the Eastern Daily Press are also encouraging people to share what they love Diss by joining the Enjoy Diss More Facebook page, as well as sending in their best pictures and reports on what is going on in the area.

The campaign echoes a campaign called ‘Enjoy Cromer More’, set up by Archant in the North Norfolk seaside resort last year.


Archant South Norfolk editor Andrew Papworth said: “We’re extremely excited to launch Enjoy Diss More and have the support of the town.

“Diss is a beautiful place and a hidden gem in South Norfolk that sadly, due to its location, sometimes gets overlooked.

“But with this campaign we want to really celebrate the town, its community and all the wonderful things that happen here, we’d like to invite everyone to join us in doing this and help us to do this.”

Doreen Collins, a member of the Diss town guide committee, said: “Having actively promoted Diss as a tourist destination for more than 25 years this campaign gives me the opportunity to continue with this work.

“It will also help to raise the profile of the town to those thinking of relocating here and a chance for residents to appreciate the range of activities, entertainment and clubs open to them.”
